Summer Loving

1. Dorothy Perkins / 2. Topshop / 3. River Island / 4. ASOS / 5. ASOS / 6. Topshop / 7. Warehouse / 8. ASOS

With summer rapidly approaching, I've been hunting around for some new items to re-vamp my wardrobe. These bits and bobs are a mixture of some of my favourite trends at the minute, including Aztec and Sports Luxe. My favourite item is definitely the Aztec knicker shorts, I love the style and the zip front. During the summer I live in high waisted shorts and have just purchased a new vintage wash pair from Topshop, so an outfit post showing those off is on its way!

What are your summer must-haves for this year?

The Prettiest Place

Jack came down to Bournemouth to stay with me for a couple of days, so we decided to go to a place called Studland, which is a little town near Swanage. Its one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen; pretty sandy beaches with the Canford Cliffs as a backdrop, and old pubs with wood fires and vintage cars parked outside.

To get there, we had to get a ferry across from Poole harbour, I felt like I was going on holiday! The whole place felt so rustic and it was like being in the countryside. Dorset really does have its little gems - it's a bloggers' heaven! Here are a few pictures that I took of our afternoon, including  a new outfit for the lookbook with my new Cerruti 1881 scarf, and my bargain chiffon shirt from eBay.

This is my outfit of the day - the bag was a vintage hand me down from my Grandmother and I literally love it, since I've had it I take it everywhere with me. The cardigan was a charity shop buy, but was originally from New Look. I think the scarf really pulls the outfit together.

What does everyone make of the variation in location recently? More of these, or more outfit of the day posts? Let me know what you want to see, I'd love to hear everyone's feedback!

Rita's Vintage Wardrobe

Sorry for the brief blogging hiatus, I'm doing TV journalism as part of my course at the moment and its pretty intense. I'm trying so hard to be more productive because I have so many exams and assignments due this summer (cue violins), but I want to try to make more time for blogging all the same!

A little vintage fair came to Bournemouth yesterday, and proceeds went to the Salvation Army Charity - everybody loves a good cause so it was pretty busy! The fair itself was named after 40s icon Rita Hayworth, and a lot of the items were very Rita-esque; full skirted dresses, midi skirts and mid heeled court shoes.

The thing I love about vintage fairs is how there are so many clothes scattered around that you can barely move. Part of the fun is rifling through to find the things you want. I bought a vintage Cerruti 1881 silk scarf and a pink belt, which came to a fiver altogether, complete bargain! Photos of those items to come in a later post. It was a really nice event, with a cute little table for tea and cakes, and a vintage-style photobooth for anyone brave enough to get their picture taken.

Are there any good vintage fairs in your area? If so, whereabouts? I love them so much I would pretty much travel anywhere! Hope everyone has had a lovely week.

Tangerine Cream

I've wanted this colour for so long but every time I tried to get it, it had sold out! I finally found one in the Bournemouth branch of Superdrug, the colour is called Tangerine Cream and is by Look magazine. I'm usually a bit dubious of make-up brands by magazine companies, but the colour and staying power of this lipstick is really good.

I felt the need to reapply after about three hours, maybe a little less, and the colour doesn't leave a nasty residue as it wears off like some lipsticks do. The colour is a peachy pink, which is perfect as it doesn't make teeth look yellower than they are as many corals do. Its very true to the colour on the packaging, but I only put one coat on as I don't like too strong a colour. If you do though, it is very buildable and can be a very bright peach if that's the look you're going for.  The consistency is pretty close to MAC Cremesheen lipsticks, which is excellent as they're my favourite! The case is gorgeous too, and its also magnetic which is a great little gimmick.

The nail polish is Barry M Blue Moon, which I'll be doing a review on shortly! The weather is gorgeous today so I'm off to the out for a jaunt around town now, I'll hopefully have some pictures to follow.

Hope everyone has a lovely day!

Black, Magenta and Mustard

Dress - Primark

Shoes - Primark

Had such a busy week this week, as soon as one assignment finishes, another begins! This outfit was a little bit 70s inspired because I love the colours! The dress was a really recent buy and was only £6 from Primark, huge bargain. The shoes were also Primark, but the quality isn't great, the style is lovely though.

I tried something a bit different with my lipstick today, you can't really tell from the picture but I may do a tutorial on how to do it at some point! I read ages ago that if you put a darker lipstick on the outside of your lip line, and then filled in the middle with a nude shade it made your lips look much fuller. I thought it would make me look like a drag queen with too much lip liner on, but it actually worked pretty well and is quite subtle if you do it properly!

In other news, its my birthday soon! Any suggestions on what to put on my list?

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Oh I do like to be beside the seaside

It was the sunniest day on Sunday, so we took a trip to the beach - living in Bournemouth definitely has its perks! We had a lovely coffee and cake at the pier's café, and then went for a stroll. Bournemouth is so beautiful, and has a lovely array of beach huts in every colour under the sun, so here are a few snaps from our girls day out - apologies for the photo heavy post!

Here's what I wore for our little outing. Not a very exciting outfit, but it wasn't quite warm enough for bare legs! I did, however, regret not wearing pastels, as I think they would've been better suited given the weather. Please excuse my over enthusiastic expression in the first photo, I was clearly way too excited about the beach!

My sunglasses are one of the only things that I own that I've really saved up for. They're Miu Miu, and I got them at duty free for around £120. I've really made sure that I've got my moneys worth from them though, I wear them at every opportunity I get! The top is an H & M basic, and the cardigan is a charity shop buy originally from Primark. The high waisted shorts were Topshop, and were £36 - a bit of a splurge, but they're so nice and really versatile too. All of my jewellery is from Judy's Vintage Fair, which comes to the Bournemouth Pavillion every six months or so - if you're in the area its definitely worth a visit!

I took a trip round the shops today, so look out for a post on my new bits and bobs in the next few days!
